Lean Six Sigma for Lab Leaders Workshop

Thursday, April 30, 2026 ● 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Clinical laboratories face increasing pressure to deliver faster results, elevate quality, and operate with fewer resources. Lean principles offer a powerful, structured way to meet these challenges while empowering staff and improving workflow. This workshop provides laboratory leaders with practical Lean tools—including 5S, Standard Work, visual management, and value-stream mapping—tailored specifically for clinical environments. Participants will analyze real case studies from accessioning, chemistry, and microbiology; engage in a hands‑on workflow improvement simulation; and redesign a laboratory process using Lean thinking. The session emphasizes actionable strategies that can be implemented immediately, helping teams reduce turnaround times, enhance consistency, and build a culture of continuous improvement. Attendees will leave with templates, visual boards, and a 30‑day action plan to launch or accelerate Lean deployment in their labs.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand and apply core lean principles in the clinical laboratory
  2. Analyze and improve laboratory processes using lean tools
  3. Identify key elements of a sustainable lean improvement plan
